We develop member-owned, permanently affordable housing while supporting our communities in pursuing innovative, people-centric businesses that build supportive solutions in people's lives that need it most.

Our housing is owned and governed by the members that live in it. This keeps our cooperatives affordable; not just today, but for every resident who comes after. That's the idea behind a community land cooperative: land and buildings held collectively, governed by members, and protected from the market forces that push rents and prices out of reach.

Michigan Community Land Cooperative develops and stewards this kind of housing across the state. Our board is administered by not only members, but by cooperative profesionals from around the country, We acquire property, structure it as permanent cooperative ownership, and support the members who run it, so the affordability doesn't expire, get sold off, or depend on a subsidy running out.

We also support other cooperatives in our communities, helping them organize, govern, and grow, because a stronger cooperative sector benefits everyone in it, not just our own membership.

Occasionally, we act as a fiscal sponsor for other organizations and projects doing aligned community work, lending our nonprofit status, infrastructure, and capacity so good ideas don't stall out for lack of a fiscal home. That support has gone toward community efforts like the Day Time Warming Center in Ypsilanti, Bancroft Commons in Lansing, and other neighborhood-level projects across Michigan.

This is housing built to last, and a community ecosystem built to support it.
